There are two ways to create a Letter or Diary Entry in Mana:
Within a Child’s Learning Journey: You can add a Letter or Diary Entry under one of the stages in the child’s Learning Journey. This is great when you want to document the child’s progress as part of their cycle of planning.
In Docs: If you’re creating a one-off Diary Entry or Letter, you can do so directly in the Docs section. This option is perfect for standalone learning documents.
Learning Journeys Include Diary Entries and Letters!
Diary Entries: Educators can create reflective diary entries that capture children’s learning, observations, and progress.
Letters: Educators can write personal letters to children, celebrating their unique strengths and interests, making their learning journey even more special.
1. Creating a Letter or Diary Entry Within a Child’s Learning Journey
This method is ideal for adding a Letter or Diary Entry as part of a child’s ongoing learning journey and planning cycle.
Head to the Journeys feature: Create a Learning Journey by clicking on the "+" button
2. Follow the Steps: Complete the steps of creating a Learning Journey. If you need help on how to do this, please head to our: "How do I create a Learning Journey" article for further support
3. Select a Stage: Once the Journey is created, click on the relevant stage where you’d like to add a Letter or Diary Entry.
4. Click ‘+ Create’: Within the stage, click + Create
5. Click on the pencil to choose either Diary Entry or Letter from the options.
6. Fill Out the Entry: Write / voice record / add a photo your Diary Entry or Letter. Coach Sue is always available to help if you get stuck.
7.Start writing: After completing the entry, click start writing. It will now be a part of the child’s Learning Journey under the selected stage.
2. Creating a One-Off Letter or Diary in Docs
If you’re creating a standalone Diary Entry or Letter that isn’t tied to a Learning Journey, use the Docs section.
Go to the Docs Section: From the Mana dashboard, navigate to the Docs section.
Click ‘Create’: Click the ‘Create’ button and select either Diary Entry or Letter.
Write Your Entry: Fill in your observation, celebrating the child(ren)'s growth, learning, or interests.
Send: Once complete, send your Diary Entry or Letter to Mana to magically create. It will now be stored in the Docs section for easy access.
