Mana’s Guided Journeys help educators follow the full Cycle of Planning with ease, clarity, and support while helping you manage your workload.

This article will show you how to do the cycle of planning using Guided Journeys:

1. Start a new Journey

  • Go to the Journeys tab.

  • Choose/create a child

  • Select "Create a Journey"

2. Set Duration and Goals

  • Choose the duration (e.g., 3 months)

  • Add up to 3 goals per journey or leave this empty to edit later and select Next.

Tips:

  • Collaborate with educators or families when setting goals.

  • Ensure goals are child-centred and linked to framework.

  • Use the Enrich button to auto-enhance goals with your centre’s philosophy and the framework.

  • Use the Suggest icon to get AI-generated goal ideas based on the child's existing documents and age.

3. Enter Guided view

  • Once created, you’ll see the journey in Guided View (If in Stages View, you can change to guided using the button on the top right corner)

Please note: Guided and Stages views contain the same documents in a different view, any document created in either mode will appear in the other. To change the default view, please see the following article:

4. Choose your first step

  • Select "Generate my first steps" to prompt Sue to suggest some options on how to begin the cycle/ILP for the child.

  • Select one of the options to begin

    • "Explore" gives you helpful insights into how to complete this suggested action

    • "Select" allows you to leave this option pinned as your choice, to return to during your next planning session

    • You can also "Regenerate next steps" or simply "Choose your own" if neither option is for you.

5. Write and generate a document

7. Explore and select the next follow-up

  • Once the document is generated, Mana will suggest a follow-up actions based on the all the information on the child and the stages of the cycle/ILP.

  • Explore the insights and select to pin which option you'd like to continue with.

  • Return to the selected step next time you're on planning or before the next due date.

Please note:

  • You can toggle between Stages and Guided view by using the button on the top right corner. Every document created in guided will be automatically categorised by Mana into the correct Stage (e.g. Learning story will be placed under Observe & Assess)

  • Mana will also use the auditing feature to automatically mark off the stages completed according to the documents you create.

  • Due dates will be suggested to help you manage your workload. This date is determined by considering the workload for all your key children- helping you focus and manage your work.
