Change the observed date on a document

Correct when an observation happened, without confusing it with the document’s creation date.

Written by Himal Randeniya

You can change a document’s Observed date from its Info panel. Use this for the day the learning or experience happened.

Change the date

1. Open the saved document and select Info.
2. Beside Observed, select Edit.

Document Info panel: 1 opens Info; 2 edits Observed. Created and Updated appear separately below.

1. Info
2. Edit beside Observed

3. Select the date field and choose the correct day.
4. Select Save, then check the Observed date in Info.

Observed date dialog and calendar: 3 selects the observation date; 4 saves the change. Future dates are unavailable.

3. Choose the observed date
4. Save the change

Which date should I use?

  • Observed records when the observation happened.

  • Created records when the document was created.

  • Updated records its most recent update.

Changing Observed does not backdate Created. You cannot choose a future date.

If Edit is unavailable, the document may be shared or read-only, or its Journey may be complete. Check you are in the correct team and have permission to edit.
