Mana’s Journeys help educators follow the full Cycle of Planning or Individual Learning Plans with ease, clarity, and support while helping you manage your workload.

Step-by-Step: Starting a Journey

1. Start a new Journey

  • Go to the Journeys tab.

  • Choose/create a child to begin

2. Set Duration and Goals

  • Choose the duration (e.g., 3 months)

  • Add up to 3 goals per journey or leave this empty to edit later and select Next.

Tips:

  • Collaborate with educators or families when setting goals.

  • Ensure goals are child-centred and linked to framework.

  • Use the Enrich button to auto-enhance goals with your centre’s philosophy and the framework.

  • Use the Suggest icon to get AI-generated goal ideas based on the child's existing documents and age.

3. Enter Stages view of your Journey

  • Once created, you’ll see the journey in Stages view with the layout of the exact stages of your cycle / ILP

4. Choose your first step

  • Select a suggestion or "Create document" under the stage to begin

  • You can click into the document type to change your preference

5. Write and generate a document

  • Once you make a choice, it's time to add the content.

  • Make sure your writing mode is set to Write with Mana in order to use Mana's AI feature

  • Enter your notes using:

    • Text box: type in all your thoughts and notes on observe, assess and where to go

    • Write with Sue: start chatting with Coach Sue from the start to build your learning story (she will prompt you to provide details about the observations, assessment and extension)

    • Record voice: hit record and speak naturally about the observation, learning and next steps (names and quotes will be picked up too!)

  • Select Generate

Important notes:

  • Depending on the amount of information provided the document will either be generated or you'll be prompted by Coach Sue to give more detail.

  • If more detail required, chat until progress bar reaches 100% at which point you it will turn into a green Generate icon.

  • Read, review, edit and approve your document while in Edit Mode

    • Edit the document content/title directly

    • Use the Magic Edit bar ("What should I change?") to make instant text changes (e.g., change tone, include different outcomes, add other details)
      - Translate your document into any available language with Translate (original in English will appear below the translation)

    • Use Fix Grammar & Spelling if you wrote in additional information directly

    • Upload media (images, videos, PDFs)

  • Select Save to enter Viewing Mode

    • Use the panel on the right to scroll through:

      • Info: your original text & observed, created, and last modified dates

      • Coach Sue: review and continue your conversation with Sue (only for coaching purposes- she can no longer edit)

      • Follow Ups: to view location of the document and choose next steps
