Use Journeys in Mana to find a child, open their current learning Journey, revisit earlier work or start a document. This guide covers the educator experience in Mana on the web. The children and actions available depend on your service's settings and your access.
Find a child in Journeys
Open Journeys.
Enter the child's name in Search children. Check the next page if the list continues.
Open the child's three-dot menu to choose what you need.
Key children brings together children allocated directly to you. Your other accessible children appear under All other children. If your service uses restricted educator access, you may see Your allocated children instead. Those children can come from your direct child allocations or your allocated active rooms.
Key children give you a focus for following each child's learning and working with their family, with contributions from the wider team. Your service decides whether educators choose their own key children or managers coordinate those allocations. Read Choose your key children for the applicable steps.
Open the child's current Journey
To continue a Child Journey that already exists, open Journeys, find the child, then choose Current journey from their three-dot menu. This opens the child's existing work. Add journey is the entry for starting a new Journey.
Current journey is available for an active child with a Journey. If the child has no Journey, use How to begin a Journey. If more than one Journey needs attention, Mana may open the child's Journey workspace.
The menu shown is for a child with a current Journey. Other actions depend on the child and your access.
Choose another destination from the child menu
Profile: open the child's details, room memberships, family information and learning links.
Family sharing: open the child's family-access page where this feature is available. Opening the page does not send an invitation.
All journeys: open the child's Journey list with the All status filter selected. Use Open, Completed, Deleted or All to narrow the list.
Recent docs: open document History with this child selected. Check Today, Last 30 days or Over 30 days, and the document filters.
Spontaneous moments: open that child's Spontaneous Moments history. This view stays scoped to the child.
Add to key children or Remove from key children: change your own allocation when your service allows self-selection. These actions are unavailable when allocations are managed centrally or your access does not allow the change.
All journeys in the child menu starts at All. The Journeys link inside a child's Profile starts at Open, so change that filter when looking for completed work.
Start a document or return to your writing
In Journeys → Create something new, choose Observation, Planning or Evaluation, then select the document type you need. For example, Observation → Learning Story opens the Learning Story creation flow.
The links beneath the document types help you return to work:
View drafts: find unfinished writing.
View all docs: open document History and use its filters.
All types: browse the document types available to you.
Can't find a child or their work?
In Journeys, check the selected account, your search and Filter and sort. All children clears the Journey-status selection within your accessible list. Show inactive and deleted includes those child statuses. Neither control grants access to children outside your allocation or permissions.
If a child you support is outside your accessible list, ask your manager to check the intended child and room allocations. Read Using Restricted Mode for the access model. If work is still missing after checking the correct child and filters, open your profile menu in Mana and select Help & Support with the task you were trying to find.
