Guidance for managers on allocating any children missing a key educator to relevant educators

Managers can find active children without a listed key educator and allocate the educators who will take particular responsibility for following their learning. Reviewing unassigned children helps your team check how responsibility is shared.

Find children who need an allocation

  1. Open SettingsTeam ManagementAllocations & Access.

  2. Select Manage Child Allocations.

  3. On the Key Educators page, select Unassigned in the child list.

The filtered list shows active children without a listed key educator. A blank filtered list does not establish that every child in the centre is active or that every access arrangement is correct.

Allocate the child’s key educators

Select a child or their Manage educators action, select the appropriate educators in Manage Key Educators, then select Save Changes. Check the child’s allocation in the All or Assigned list after saving.

See Manage key-child allocations for the complete allocation procedure. Educators choosing their own children should use Choose your key children.
