Use Chat to read messages and talk with your child's educators in the channels available to your family.
Your early learning setting controls which channels are available. A visible channel does not always accept replies, so check the type of conversation before writing.
Choose the right channel
Family channels are connected to an individual child and provide a place for discussion with that child's educators.
Room channels relate to a room or group. They can allow family replies when the channel and your membership permit them.
Announcements share updates without family replies.
You may see different channel names chosen by your setting. Do not assume every family has the same list.
Send a message
Open Chat.
Select the child's Family channel, or another channel that allows you to reply.
Read the conversation and check that you have selected the intended child or group.
Write your message and use the send control.
For a question about a particular shared document, start from Discuss on that document. This keeps the learning context with the conversation. See Discuss a shared document.
A short observation or question from home can add context that educators have not seen. You do not need to write a formal learning story to contribute.
If a channel or reply control is missing
The channel may be set to receive updates only, or your access may differ. Ask your early learning setting which contact route to use and whether your access needs checking.
