Prepare for a Grow Meeting

Bring useful context to your meeting, save your preparation, or skip it when you do not need it.

Written by Himal Randeniya

Use Prepare to bring notes, examples or questions into a scheduled Grow Meeting. You can write in your own words, save your preparation and mark it ready for the conversation.

These steps are for your own scheduled meeting in Mana on the web. You need access to Grow and a Prepare stage that is open for editing.

Add your preparation

  1. Open Grow. Find Mentoring and select Open.

  2. Choose your scheduled meeting, then select Prepare on the One-on-one page.

  3. Select Edit, shown with a pencil, in the preparation document.

Preparation toolbar with the purple pencil Edit button on the right.

Select the purple pencil to edit

  4. Write the context you want to discuss. In an empty document, select Start writing... to begin.

  5. Select Save, shown with a tick in the document toolbar. Once your preparation is saved, the document returns to viewing mode.

Purple tick button labelled Save in the preparation document toolbar.

Save your writing with the tick

  6. When your preparation is ready, select Done for the Prepare stage.

Prepare stage controls showing Skip on the left and Done on the right.

Select Done when preparation is ready

Your preparation stays with the meeting. After you mark Prepare done, the stage becomes read-only and its control changes to Reopen.

What should I write?

Preparation gives your mentoring conversation a starting point: something you noticed, an approach you tried or a question you want to work through together. Choose the detail that will help that conversation; you do not need to turn every thought into a separate piece of writing.

For example:

I tried giving children more time to respond during group discussions. More children joined in, but I’m still unsure how to support those who prefer to watch. I’d like to discuss what to try next.

Do I need to reflect again?

In your Grow Meeting, you can skip the Prepare stage. If you have already reflected elsewhere, you can add the points you want to bring into this meeting, or select Skip in Prepare if you do not need a separate preparation document.

Skipping Prepare resolves that stage so you can continue with the meeting. It does not complete the Meet or Follow Up stages. Any preparation expectations agreed with your mentor or service are separate from Mana’s Skip option.

Change your preparation or finish later

If the whole Grow Meeting is complete, select Reopen meeting first. To change preparation you have marked done or skipped, select Reopen in Prepare, then Edit. Save your changes before marking the stage done again.

If you need to leave while writing, select Save first. If Mana says it could not save your changes, keep the editor open and try Save again before leaving.

If you still cannot save, or cannot find your meeting, contact Mana support and describe what you see.
