Help families connect with their child’s learning by preparing access, explaining one useful action and checking that they have joined. Families need an invitation from their early learning setting; downloading Mana alone does not connect an account to a child.
Prepare the service
Use How to enable Families and invite parents or family members to check Families settings and the correct access for each person.
Service settings: 1 Families Feature and 2 Families 2 are separate settings. Both are enabled in this example. The Families Feature notice says it is managed by the organisation; check your organisation policy before making changes.
For individual invitations, use Invite a parent or family member to a child’s Mana profile. Confirm the child and email address before sending.
Help the family join
Ask the family member to accept using the invited email. In Family sharing, use Accepted, Invited and Disabled to check progress. Family members cannot invite others, including with Full access; your centre controls invitations.
Start with a meaningful contribution
Show the family one piece of shared learning and invite their perspective. A question, home language, interest or everyday experience can help educators understand the child across settings.
Then show actions available to that account, such as choosing a Plan or sharing a Memory. Contributions are optional; families do not need to produce polished observations or complete homework.
Follow up on access problems
