How Mana manages family access and chats

Why centres control family invitations, what Full access means, and how Mana adds the relevant chats.

Written by Himal Randeniya

Your centre manages family invitations and access. Full access does not let a family member invite other people in Mana Families.

Why the centre controls invitations

This is a deliberate child-safety decision. Centres need to know who can see a child’s information and who they are communicating with.

Contact your centre when another parent, carer or family member needs access. The centre checks the person, the child and the appropriate access before inviting them.

What family access means

  • Full access lets families update child details and contribute through the available family tools, including Memories and Plans.

  • View and discuss lets families view shared information and take part in available discussions.

Neither level gives families permission to invite others. Access also depends on what the centre has shared and enabled.

Mana adds the relevant chats

Mana automatically adds connected families to the relevant enabled chats: their child’s family conversation, room/group updates and centre announcements. Families do not need to invite people or build the membership list.

You can reply in your child’s chat when messaging is available. Room/group updates and announcements are read-only for families.

Your child’s family conversation can include their connected family members and relevant centre staff. It is separate from internal staff chats. Available chats depend on your centre’s settings and your child’s connections.

If access needs to change

Contact your centre if someone needs to be added or removed, a chat is missing, or something appears that you should not see. Share the concern privately with the centre.
